150th Foundation day of Baranagar Municipality
বহতা গঙ্গানদীতীরের এক বহমান নাগরিক সভ্যতা-বিবিধ বৈচিত্র্যময় ঐতিহ্যমন্ডিত ইতিহাসের সরনী বেয়ে সমকালীন আধুনিকতায় উপনীত আজকের বরানগর।পৌরশাসনব্যবস্থার ১৫০ বৎসর পূর্তিতে বরানগর পৌরসভার পক্ষ থেকে ১লা এপ্রিল ২০১৮ বরানগর কালিতলার মাঠ থেকে এক বর্নাঢ্য শোভাযাত্রার মাধ্যমে সূচনা হল সম্বৎসর ব্যাপী অনুষ্ঠানের।মাননীয় বিধায়ক, মাননিয়া পৌরপ্রধান, মাননীয় উপ-পৌরপ্রধান, মাননীয় ও মাননীয়া পৌরপ্রধান পারিষদ বর্গ ও পৌরপ্রতিনিধিদের উপস্থিতি ও নেতৃত্বে সঙ্গঠিত এই অভিনব শোভাযাত্রায় হাজির ছিল ড্রোনবাহিত ক্যামেরার আধুনিকতম অনুষঙ্গ থেকে শুরু করে পূরাতন ঐতিহ্যবাহী ছৌনাচ, রণপা নৃত্য, সম্মিলিত ঢাকের বাদ্য ও বাউল গান ইত্যাদি নানান অনুপম উপাদানের সমাহার। পৌরসভার বিভিন্ন দপ্তরের ট্যাবলো এবং ব্যাণ্ডপার্টির জাঁকজমক আরও প্রানবন্ত হয়ে উঠেছিল বরানগরের বিশিষ্টজন, পৌরসভার বিভিন্ন বিভাগের কর্মচারীবৃন্দ এবং সর্বস্তরের মানুষের স্বতস্ফুর্ত যোগদানে,নৃত্যে,সঙ্গীতে, আনন্দে,প্রানবন্ততায়।বরনগরের বিভিন্ন প্রধান পথ পরিক্রমান্তে এই অভূতপূর্ব শোভাযাত্রা শেষ হয় প্রগতি সঙ্ঘের ময়দানে।

Municipal History
BARANAGAR, an ancient region of artisan people, is situated adjacent to Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The place is situated on the eastern bank of the River Hooghly. Portuguese colonist at first established their business camp here which was in existence till 1862.
